Impact and Causes of ADHD by Dr Madan Mall

Dear Parents,

Our resident Counselling Psychologist, Dr Madan Mall, has recently had an article  published in Secondary Education (SecEd) magazine. The article talks about the impact and causes of ADHD. As you may be aware, many of the children at Lindsworth have this condition. If you would like to read the article the online version is at

South Area Network Training - February 2 2012

Daer Parents,

In common with most of the secondary schools in the Birmingham South Area Schools Network, Lindsworth School will be closed on the afternoon of the 2nd February from 12.30. This is to allow colleagues from different schools to meet, share good practice, and take part in training to ensure they maintain high standards in their work.

If you have any questions about this then do get in touch.

Mobile phones

Dear Parents,

 Mobile Phones

The school has a clear policy on mobile phones. We don’t want your child bringing a phone to school. This is because of problems of bullying, theft, and distraction during lesson times when calls are made or received. They do not add to your child’s education at this school.

If you child brings a phone to school it is  a requirement that they hand the phone over to a member of the Care Team at the beginning of the day. Pupils are welcome to use their phones during break times, but there is no reason for them to have them with them during lessons.

If you need to contact your child urgently you are welcome to contact the school on 0121 693 5363. You can also contact us via our webpage, where messages are quickly emailed through to the right person.

Please remind your child that if they bring a phone to school they are expected to hand it in to Care staff at the beginning of the day. We have had some recent incidents where pupils have refused to follow school rules and it makes for a bad start to the day. We want your support in this.

If you have any questions then please do not hesitate to contact me.

 Best wishes,

David McMahon,Headteacher.

25th January: Today's Assembly

Today's Assembly followed the theme of the week, which is "What's in a name?" I spent most of the assembly talking about the "Occupy" movement, which has spread around the world. Peaceful protest when you are not happy about how things are can change the world. Lindsworth School has many opportunities to put their views across to make this a better place. For example, the School Council provides a real voice and the management of the school listen carefully to what is said. If we do not use the freedoms that we have, they fall into disuse. It is important to engage with issues that have an impact on us all. The music we played today was "Birdland" by "Weather Report" - a version can be found at  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Fm10whccto

Best wishes, David McMahon, Headteacher.
