Admissions

Lindsworth School provides for up to 197 statemented pupils with (SEBD) Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties from 11 years to 17 years of age.  In any year up to 30 boys/girls are admitted to the school.  At Lindsworth we only take children on roll who have a Statement of Special Needs.  Pupils can join us from Secondary Transfer onwards up to Year 11.

Lindsworth is notified of children recommended by SENAR.  A decision as to whether Lindsworth can meet a child’s needs will be made through an evaluation of the information received by the school from SENAR based on the following:

 ·         The placement is appropriate to the child’s needs

·         Their admission is compatible with the interests of other children at the school

·         And there is an efficient use of the LA’s resources.

As a result of the information received SENAR will allocate places to applicants.  Lindsworth is not able to offer places to children unless they have been referred through SENAR.  As soon as Lindsworth agree that they are able to meet the child’s needs, parents/carers are invited to attend an informal meeting that will have been pre-arranged with the Admissions Coordinator.  Pupils who join us on Secondary Transfer will have 2 ‘taster’ days organized in July where all new children come into school and initial baseline testing and a general introduction to the school takes place.

Admission to Lindsworth takes place at other times during the year other than at secondary transfer.  In this instance prospective pupils may be shown around the school on an informal basis.  Places will be offered if there is a vacancy at the school and the school can meet the child’s educational needs.

Transport is normally arranged to collect children from their homes in the mornings and return them to their homes at the end of the school day.
For resident pupils, wherever possible, a pre-entry visit and overnight stay are arranged before a pupil starts school.
If you have any concerns or require further information before your child starts at Lindsworth please contact Jenny Francis on 0121 693 5363 Ext 300. If you cannot keep the appointment then you are asked to telephone the school so that another arrangement can be made.
