All pupils referred to Lindsworth have some form of difficulty in the area of behaviour. To help pupils overcome these problems, the school operates procedures of Behaviour Management that encompass a number of different approaches.
Rewards feature highly and, at morning assembly each Friday, pupils receive praise and recognition for their achievements not just in schoolwork but also for effort, conduct, attendance and helpfulness.
Every pupil has an allocated member of staff as a "Minder" who will meet with them regularly to oversee their general well being and help them with any difficulties. Minders encourage pupils in both schoolwork and relationships with other staff and pupils.
These relationships and communications between staff and children act as an on-going therapeutic intervention. This encourages pupils to take greater control over their actions and to look at ways how things could be done differently, thus reinforcing that young person’s positive expression of themselves. A result of this improved self image is that many pupils then make great improvements in their interpersonal and interaction skills.
