So – you have often thought about being a governor, but you have never been asked. You are not sure what governors do or whether you will be good enough. Well, here is an opportunity to change all of that.
Here is some information to get you started:
Lindsworth School is looking for Governors to join a successful board who care about the children we work with. Lindsworth’s last Ofsted on the Social Care side was “Good” and the quality of education is “satisfactory.” We have the potential to become consistently good and outstanding. We work closely with other special and mainstream schools in the area. We are particularly looking for governors who have knowledge, skills, or experience in any of the following
· Education
· Finance
· The law
· Buildings/premises
· Human resources
· Child Protection
What do you get in return?
YOU GET
· To use your skills for the benefit of our school children, their parents/carers, and the local community.
· To develop skills that may be useful in your work.
· To show your employer (if you are working) that you have leadership skills/experience or potential.
· To show yourself (in unemployment or retirement) that you have skills that are of high value and of great use in an education establishment.
· A chance to work with a great bunch of like-minded people.
· To have a great feeling of doing something worthwhile.
· To join the largest volunteer force in the country.
· Training in all areas of leadership and education.
Don’t just think about it – you will be getting a letter from the school very soon, please fill in the application form and take part in a very rewarding activity. If you are unable to volunteer, but know of someone who is a parent and would like to make a contribution, then please ask them to get in touch with me, or Emma Hall, our Clerk to the Governers, who would be pleased to help.
Best wishes,
David McMahon.

Dear Parents and Carers,
As many of you are aware, Alec Kirby, a long standing governor of the school, recently died following a short illness. He will be sorely missed. In addition to working as a governor he was frequently on site doing gardening and other site maintenance. I am sure that you will join with me in offering our heartfelt sympathy to his family at this difficult time. The funeral will take place on Friday 24 February. Vanessa in the office is co-ordinating the collection.
Best wishes,
David McMahon, Headteacher.
Dear Parents,
I have had a request from a parent for a link to our Ofsted reports, as they had some difficulty finding them. Lindsworth is inspected every year as it has a Residential section. These reports can be found at:
http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/inspection-reports/find-inspection-report/provider/CARE/SC017171
Ofsted also inspect the school on a 3-yearly cycle, looking at the quality of the education provided. The most recent report was written in 2009 and can be found at
http://www.ofsted.gov.uk/inspection-reports/find-inspection-report/provider/ELS/103632
For the 2009 inspection the school was judged to be Satisfactory. For the 2010 and 2011 Social Care Inspections, the school was found to be Good.
Best wishes,
David McMahon, Headteacher.
