"Well Done" to everyone for getting off to such a positive start for the new academic year. The atmosphere in school has been lovely for the last few days and it is nice to see so many smiling faces!
There have been a number of changes which you will be aware of, for example, the new timetable, new curriculum options, and some new staff. It is great to see that the new staff have been welcomed so positively by pupils and other staff.
Many of you have also heard about the ISU, which is our new Intensive Support Unit. This has been put in place to provide extra help for some students who need it, who have found being in the main school difficult. The aim is for pupils who have been placed in the ISU to spend some time there helping them find ways to make the right decisions, with a view to rejoining the main school further down the line.
The theme for assemblies last week was "New Beginnings" and we provided a lot of information and reminders for pupils about what is expected of them this year. We are continuing with the revised merit system which has gone down well with pupils.
If you have any questions about these or other matters then please do not hesitate to contact me.
Best wishes,
David McMahon, Headteacher.

What a phenomenal show that was put on this morning for the end of term. The judging panel of Sharon Osbourne (Caroline Tams) Randy Jackson (Trevor Francis) and JLo (Annissa Cherif), plus an audience of invited guests (pupils and staff) put on a show to remember. Special mention must go to Anas, Trenton, Lemar, Big John, Leah, Jamal, Anita, Daniel, Ryan, and Deshai for putting on the best show Lindsworth has seen in years. They were ably supported by Ken, Mick, Lucy, Sonia, Thelma, Ralph, Dave, and not forgetting Bobby, Tony, and Dennis.
The performances we saw today are something that should make everyone associated with Lindsworth feel proud about. Well done to all.
We all look forward to seeing you on Tuesday 17th April 2012 for the start of the summer term. Staff have a training day on the 16th. See you then!
David McMahon, Headteacher.
Lindsworth schools student council has been revamped and re-launched. At its helm Trevor Francis and Jim McRobie help run the meetings that will be held once every half term. The object of the council is to give our pupils a forum to voice concerns and bring forward reasonable ideas. In very basic terms our aim is to improve the school in any aspect where we can be influential.
Every home is represented by its volunteer council members. This is reflected by the staff. Both Trevor and Jim volunteered to take on the responsibility of running the council as has Vanessa Wilson who has kindly agreed to take and produce the minutes of the meetings.
The council met for the first time this month and set out its aims and raised some interesting and exciting points that we look forward to prioritising at our next meeting after we come back to school after half term.
“This is our chance to do something positive for the school” said Khy-lus Carter, year 7.
WELL DONE to Fabian and Desmond who have achieved the ASA Water Skills Level 2 and the Basic Survival Award. Well done also to Talha and Jamahl who have achieved Level 1. Talha has also picked up a Basic Survival Award.
It is very pleasing for us all to see our pupils making this progress.
Best wishes,
David McMahon, Headteacher.
