Lindsworth School aims to get the best out of all of its pupils and, with English being a priority subject, we seek to provide the opportunity for all pupils to secure at least one qualification in this important subject area.
In the first three years at Lindsworth School the pupils undergo an unobtrusive appraisal where they are assessed and placed on National Curriculum Levels. For our own reassurance we will occasionally put the pupils in for Progress Tests in years seven and eight. The top year nines will complete the Key Stage Three SAT examination.
As a department we took a decision to offer the Entry Level Certification, particularly for those who have not sat in examination conditions for a number of years, and these may be completed in years nine, ten and eleven. This also acts as a confidence booster for those children we have that feel that they will not do well in exams. Furthermore, if the child is about to change school or educational career, then the Entry Level Certificate provides an interim qualification as a basic indicator for their next educator.
The GCSE exams in English and English Literature are also open to the pupils who wish to work towards the National Qualification.
