The History Department at Lindsworth School teaches students who are aged eleven to sixteen. During Years Seven, Eight and Nine pupils follow the Key Stage Three curriculum and study the following areas:
Medieval Realms, Elizabeth l, The Civil Wars, From Glorious Revolution to the ’45, Industrial changes, The First World War, Black Peoples of America and A Divided Ireland.
Pupils are encouraged to work independently and also to question the validity and possible bias using primary and secondary sources of evidence. Pupils are able to use the internet to find additional resources and for further investigations. We encourage pupils to reflect critically on the different motivations for people acting in History.
At the end of Key Stage three pupils are offered History as a GCSE option.

Key stage 4 History was introduced at Lindsworth in 2000 as an option choice set against geography. Since its introduction we have seen pupils attain distinction at Entry Level and at GCSE pass’s ranging from C to E, an achievement of which we are particularly proud.
Pupils follow the course syllabus covering the Modern World 1914-1990. They are encouraged to develop skills that help them to evaluate and use sources of information in order to understand historical events and worldwide political causes and consequences of the many of the wars that plagued the century. The pupils will study topics which look at the causes and consequences of International Relations between Britain, Russia, USSR, Germany and the USA, including the First World War, The Russian Revolution, World War 2, Korea, Vietnam, the Cuban crisis and the Cold War.
In the future, it is hoped that funding will be available to take the pupils to France to visit the Somme, where they will experience a soldier's life in the trenches (The First World War) and Normandy, where they will visit the D-Day landing beaches and military cemeteries of the Second World War.
